  • 3D-Secure

    3D Secure is a free and automatic online security service that has been created to help guard your сredit сard against unauthorized use online. 3D Secure works by using a password that you create as your unique online identifier. You then use your 3D Secure Password to validate online transactions with participating online retailers. This helps to protect you from unauthorized use when spending online. The 3-D Secure protocol was developed by Visa to improve the security of Internet payments. Services based on the protocol have also been adopted by Master Card as MasterCard SecureCode.

    The system involves a pop-up window or inline frame appearing during the online transaction process, requiring the cardholder to enter a password which, if the transaction is legitimate, their card-issuing bank will be able to authenticate. When a 3-D Secure confirmation code is required, if the confirmation code is sent by SMS on mobile phone (assuming she/he owns one). In most current implementations of 3-D Secure, the issuing bank or its ACS provider prompts the buyer for a password that is known only to the bank/ACS provider and the buyer. Since the merchant does not know this password and is not responsible for capturing it, it can be used by the issuing bank as evidence that the purchaser is indeed their cardholder. This is intended to help decrease risks.

    The intention behind the system is that cardholders will have a decreased risk of other people being able to use their payment cards fraudulently on the Internet. Firstly check whether the online retailer is a participating 3D Secure merchant – look out for the MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa logo.

  • API ArsenalPay

    API ArsenalPay is a set of routines, protocols, and tools produced by ArsenalPay service to simplify payment integration online and in mobile applications. API ArsenalPay will be provided for programmers after a client submits the subscription request.

  • Chargeback

    Chargeback is a credit card transaction is returned to the acquiring bank by the issuing bank (cardholder s bank) and which may be debited to the merchant’s bank account. It can be used to dispute a credit card transaction and secure a refund for the purchase. A chargeback transaction may result in financial loss to the merchant, if the necessary documentation is not produced.

  • Reversal

    Reversal is a process that takes place when you were previously issued a bill for the wrong amount. This can happen when your bill was calculated using an estimated reading, but later received an actual reading that was lower; the meter reading that was submitted and used to calculate your bill was incorrect; your bill was charged at the wrong rate.

  • Refund

    Refund is an amount of money that is given back to you, especially because you are not happy with a product or service that you have bought, or a procedure of giving money back.   • TLS

    TLS (Transport Layer Security) is a cryptographic protocol designed to provide communication security over a computer network. It also has a predecessor, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Several versions of the protocol are in widespread use in applications such as web browsing, electronic mail, Internet faxing, instant messaging, and voice-over-IP (VoIP). ArsenalPay uses TLS protocol to provide security in payment data transfer. Nowadays SSL is decided as less secure because of vulnerability detection (ex. HeartBeed), and TLS became a mostly preferred one.

  • Autopay

    Autopay is a service when you can automatically pay your outstanding balance every month on the day your payment is due. With autopay, your monthly payment is automatically deducted from your bank account. Many credit card companies offer customers to make their payments via automatic direct debit from their checking accounts.   • Payment authorization

  • Online validation

    Online validation is a process of verification of a cardholder by random amount blocking (in RUB, EUR, USD) and payer confirmation of the blocked amount (after that the sum will be automatically unblocked). This additional safety level is important for verification of cards without 3-D Secure service.

    A virtual card is an electronic payment solution that lets you shop online or over the telephone while reducing the worry that hackers might steal your credit card information. Virtual credit cards, also known as "single use" or "disposable" cards, provide extra safety for people making Web- or telephone-based purchases — transactions in which you don't have to show your physical credit card. The cards offer a randomly generated substitute account number used in place of your true credit card number.

    When you're shopping online and ready to make a purchase, you request a virtual card from your bank. At that point, you typically know how much you're going to spend. So when you request a virtual card, you set the maximum amount that can be used (Your spending limit is typically tied to the credit limit on your real credit card.) You can also set an expiration date, after which the virtual card is no longer valid. And once you buy something, the disposable card can't be used again.

    That means you can shop online without ever using your real credit card number — thereby thwarting identity thieves trying to swipe your sensitive information.

    Such cards can’t be used in retail and services companies and ATM. It is the simple, instant, global solution for making and receiving online payments.

    Temporary card number you receive and use for a one time or several purchases is useless to hackers. Even if the card number will become uncovered it will not be useful as it most likely won't have available funds. At the same time when you will be ready to make another purchase you can easily transfer funds to your card.

    Instead of using your real credit card number when you check out online, your credit card issuer gives you an alternate set of digits, often for one-time use, that you substitute instead. Virtual number programs can be offered through the network or the issuer. You can opt for a number that is good only for a set period of time (as little as a day or as long as a year). Some issuers will allow you to set a maximum spending limit. If you can customize the number so that it's valid over a longer period, but perhaps only with one merchant, that would allow you to use it for recurring payments. Also you can use one virtual number for multiple transactions or multiple merchants over a longer period of time.

  • Cardholder data

    Cardholder data refers to personally identifiable information about the cardholder and its relationship to the card issuer (i.e., PAN, expiration date, cardholder name, service code, CVC2/CVV2, track, PIN and PIN-block).

  • Primary account number (PAN)

    PAN (Primary account number) is a number code of 14 or 16 digits embossed on a bank or credit card and encoded in the card's magnetic strip. PAN identifies the issuer of the card and the account, and includes a check digit as an authentication device.

  • CNP transaction (card not present)

    CNP (Card not present) transaction is a payment card transaction made where the cardholder does not or can not physically present the card for a merchant's visual examination at the time that an order is given and payment effected, such as for mail-order transactions by mail or fax, or over the telephone or Internet.

    Card not present transactions are a major route for credit card fraud, because it is difficult for a merchant to verify that the actual cardholder is indeed authorizing a purchase.

    If a fraudulent CNP transaction is reported, the acquiring bank hosting the merchant account that received the money from the fraudulent transaction must make restitution; whereas with a swiped (card present) transaction, the issuer of the card is liable for restitution. Because of the greater risk, some card issuers charge a greater transaction fee to merchants who routinely handle card not present transactions.

    The card security code system has been set up to reduce the incidence of credit card fraud arising from CNP.

  • 1-Click payment

    1-Click is the technique allowing customers to make an online purchase with a single click. Payment information, billing and shipping addresses must have already been previously entered.

  • PIN-code

    PIN (personal identification number) is a secret numeric password known only to the user and a system to authenticate the user to the system.
